In 2023, then 18-year-old Madison Schemitz had been avoiding her ex-boyfriend, Spencer Pearson, who had been stalking her. One night she went out to dinner with her mother and some friends, spotted Pearson, and left the restaurant. That's when he followed her out into the parking lot with a knife, looking to end her life. He was able to attack her, along with her mother who ran over to help, nearly killing her.
